Our commitment
Safeguarding Statement
Protecting the health, wellbeing, rights and dignity of children and adults at risk is fundamental to safe care.
We Care Recruitment Agency expects staff representing us to recognise, report and respond appropriately to concerns about abuse, neglect, exploitation or unsafe practice.
Our safeguarding principles
People come first
Concerns are approached with respect for the person’s safety, dignity, wishes and right to be heard.
Speak up promptly
Staff must not ignore or delay a concern. Immediate danger requires immediate action.
Do not investigate
Staff should record and report what they observed or were told, without leading questions or attempting their own investigation.
Share appropriately
Relevant information may be shared with authorised people or agencies where needed to protect someone or meet a legal duty.
What a worker should do
- If a person is in immediate danger or a serious crime is taking place, call 999.
- Follow the safeguarding and emergency procedures of the care provider where the assignment takes place.
- Report the concern immediately to the designated manager or safeguarding lead and notify We Care Recruitment Agency through the agreed reporting route.
- Make a clear, factual record as soon as possible, including what was seen, heard or disclosed and the action taken.
- Preserve any evidence and maintain confidentiality. Information should only be shared with those who need it for safeguarding or legal purposes.
- If the normal reporting route is unavailable or the concern remains unresolved, contact the relevant local authority safeguarding service or police as appropriate.
Safer recruitment and supply
Our staffing process considers identity and Right to Work, DBS status where relevant, references, training information, experience and the requirements of the role. Checks are proportionate to the assignment and do not remove the need for ongoing supervision, safe systems of work and prompt reporting of concerns.
Working with care providers
Care providers retain responsibility for their service-level safeguarding arrangements, care plans, risk management, supervision and incident procedures. We expect clear assignment information and cooperation where a concern involves a worker supplied by us.
Children and adults at risk
Our approach is informed by the Care Act statutory guidance for adult safeguarding and the current Working Together to Safeguard Children guidance. The reporting route may differ according to the person, service and location, but the duty to act on a concern remains.
